Heteronormativity in art. A queer exploration of the Thiel Gallery
To celebrate this year's Stockholm Pride, the Thiel Gallery turns around the perspective by presenting a viewing about heterosexuality in art. How is heterosexuality constructed? What meaning do we attribute to the male and female gaze? When heteronormativity is taken as a neutral point of view, what are the consequences in art - and in life? Experience the collection at the Thiel Gallery in a new way, by (re)defining the norms through queer eyes.
Emil Åkerö is a researcher and museum educator working with topics such as identity, sexuality, and gender. In this special viewing, he will approach Ernest Thiel's collection.
The viewing will be guided in Swedish.
